12/19/2023 0 Comments Intrusive thoughts examplesThese thoughts seem more "obsessive" and less "intrusive" because while these thoughts are bad and I don't want to have them, they seem to differ from the typical thoughts of someone living with OCD. I mostly focus on horrible things happening TO me, feeling powerless, obsessing over people being angry with me even if I have done nothing wrong. The thoughts that I describe to my therapist which led her to give me a diagnosis of OCD however, are not about me being afraid of ME doing things. But that is very infrequent and I feel has a degree of "normalcy" whatever that means, in that I believe people without OCD feel this way rarely. Also, sometimes when I am standing at a tall height, I think about jumping or how easy it would be to jump. When I was younger, I used to fantasize about throwing valuable possessions out of the car window and I was very disturbed by this. I can see how these thoughts are "intrusive" because they appear out of nowhere. I see a lot of people who think about harming loved ones or self-harming, thoughts of themselves doing horrible things, etc. My therapist seems to think so, but when I look at other people's accounts of intrusive thoughts, they don't seem to align with mine. ![]() I've been trying to understand whether my thoughts are intrusive. Not that that's a bad thing, I just did not see it coming. I was recently diagnosed with OCD, which of all the mental disorders I did not see relating to me or my behaviors/thoughts (at all).
